Mike Polinsky's Photo Story

The Marathon Bar at 40th and Walnut held it's weekly Open Mic on Tuesday.

Musicians and music lovers alike flocked to the bar, located above the Marathon Grill.

While the DJs and emcees set up, the college-aged crowd took in some refreshments.

Finally the night's entertainment began with a slew of solo emcees to get the party going.

Following the emcees was guitarist and singer El Malito, who gained the crowd's attention with his spanish cover of Johnny Cash's, "Ring of Fire."

The final act of the evening was a super-cypher of some of Philly's best local emcees rhyming over programmed beats.

Everyone at the show had a great time dancing, drinking, and unwinding with friends.

Alas, the night had to end, and as one am rolled around, the final stragglers ambled away from the Marathon. Until next week!
