Danette Coombs' Photo Story

Walking toward the Feria Del Barrio, the surrounding buildings were painted with beautiful murals that expressed latin culture.

From beginning to end, North 5th Street was lined with tables of different foods, activities, businesses and items that represented different cultures.

Capoeira is a brazilian folk dance that combines music, dance, and martial arts. The bateria sets the rhythm with bow looking instruments called berimbaus.

The festival wasn't just for Puerto Ricans. Taino Indians represented their culture by dressing in their native clothing and selling bumper stickers.

This firefighter was actually Dominican but he was supporting every culture by purchasing something small from each table.

Little children had just as much to do as the adults did. There was face painting, arts and crafts, and a moon bounce.

Salsa is a popular dance in the latin community. All day long, talented dancers and singers hit the stage to show off their moves.

At gatherings like this one, people find creative ways to show their pride for their country. This man made his own bike. Notice the steering wheel as handle bars.

Latin firemen and police officers came out to show support to the community. Most of them were latin, but some just came for the good food.

Flags of all kinds surrounded the blocks of the festival. The puerto rican flag was represented the most.
